INFO FACT:Designed by Mike to repair this vunerable area. One of the first MG repair panels Mike made was for a MG Midget, around the springhanger, in the mid 1970's some 50 years ago!! Repair panels were not available then and it involved making card templates and then cutting from sheet steel and hand forming on steel dollies. Nowadays we can scan drawings/templates, laser cut and CNC bend parts so we can make sure every part is exactly the same time and time again. This information is stored digitally so we do not have to rely on finding old drawings and having to fax then to the laser cutter!!  

I've developed this repair panel for the rear of the boot outer skin. This area behind the bumper on both the MGF and TF can corrode especially where the bumper cans mount.
This weakens the structure and water can ingress into the inner panels and may not be noticed until its too late! It can also be used as a repair panel if the rear is damaged by a collision thus saving replacing the complete rear section, which is now obsolete.
This panel allows the mounting points of the bumper to be reinforced and integrated into the rear panel making a much more rigid section.
These are made in in a very limited number (18) as a trial part and is made from 1.5mm thick zintec steel. Once gone they won't be available again.
As ever with Zintec coated steel precautions should be taken when welding due the fumes. If you are plug welding it is advisable to sand around the holes so the zinc coat is removed to enable a good weld.
